Class 1: Understanding Our Emotions: Awareness Instead of Avoidance

Why is it that the more we fight our feelings, the stronger they seem to grow? In this opening class, we explore the “paradox of suppression” and the mechanics of the emotional cycle. Rather than trying to fix or eliminate difficult emotions, we will begin learning how to approach them with awareness, curiosity, and compassion. We will discuss how the Torah wisdom provides a framework for staying present with our internal experience without becoming overwhelmed.

Class 2: The Flexible Mind: Working with Thoughts and Sensations

This class will focus on practical cognitive and behavioral techniques that help us respond more effectively to emotional challenges. We will learn how to relate differently to our thoughts and physical sensations, shifting from reactive habits to intentional choices and developing greater emotional flexibility. We will also explore how Torah wisdom offers powerful guidance for navigating our inner world and for managing our thoughts and emotions with greater clarity, balance, and intention.

Class 3: Living with Intention: Values-Driven Action in a Complex World

Emotional regulation isn’t just about feeling better—it’s about living better. In our final class, we move from internal awareness to meaningful action. We will identify our core values—our “spiritual compass”—and learn how to stay committed to those values even when emotions run high. We will also explore how living a values-driven life can deepen our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with Hashem.

Courses by Dr. Jonathan Feiner:

“I have participated in Dr. Feiner’s workshop on Mindfulness through the Jewish lens and I am so happy I did. It was a chance to learn how to become connected to myself, others, and the world around me in a deeper way. Dr. Feiner helps the participant engage in the power of awareness through “actively” experiencing mindfulness. He brings the expertise of both mindfulnessֲ and Jewish values to his workshop.ֲ The participant walks away with the tools they need to practice on their own, and a strong understanding of the incredible benefits of Jewish Mindfulness.”

“Dr. Jonathan Feiner has pioneered a breakthrough in the field of Jewish Torah Psychology. By developing a system of Torah-based mindfulness, Dr. Feiner has given the Jewish psychologist and patient tools with which to achieve complete emotional health using mindfulness in a totally acceptable Torah way.”
– Rabbi Hershel Reichman

“Dr. Jonathan Feiner does a masterful job educating our minds and hearts in the understanding and practice of Jewish mindfulness.”
-Dr. David Pelcovitz
