Description
Through Part 11 of Jewish Workshop’s Derech Hashem series on Nature and Miracles, Rabbi Tatz explores:
- Divine Revelation and Hiddenness
- G-d’s Love and Justice
- Eras of History and their Spiritual Nature
- The Root of Evil in the World
- How All Paths Lead to Perfection
- And more…
Class schedule:
Class 1: Examine two forms of spiritual direction which are simultaneously playing out throughout history and the underlying love of Hashem even through the manifestation of justice.
Class 2: Hashem knows everything and has the knowledge to take us to our destination. Consider your life and the events that have led to one another. Would you have predicted years ago that you would be where you are now?
Class 3: Gain clarity on the paradoxical nature of the miracles at the Exodus from Egypt and their significance. Explore both the ideal state of the world and man’s potential to disrupt this state and bring the world to one devoid of spiritual connection and awareness.
Class 4: Discover how human beings have time to grow spiritually. A baby is not thinking in terms of morality and is only conscious of his/her own needs. When we grow, we are expanding and allowing spirituality to come in. An animal does not get the intellectual elements for spiritual understanding.
Class 5: Explore the parallel between the stages of world history and human development, the eras of world history and the ascent/descent of spiritual awareness. Consider when biological realties related in the Talmud apply today.
Class 6: Gain a deeper understanding of the body and a soul when it comes to all creatures and how the human soul differs from that of an animal.
Class 7: Consider how a spiritual soul can be connected to a physical body. Discover the levels of the soul and their variant connection with the material world. Expand on these concepts through the intellect-imagination dichotomy and the interconnectedness between chomer (material) and tzura (form).
Class 8: Rabbi Tatz shares a fascinating discussion on dreams. Explore the logic-imagination relationship and how it plays out during wakefulness and sleep, the basis of dreams and when dreams should be considered seriously.
