Learn the dangers of emotional coaching. Identify contra-indications for this technique. Learn the art and science of therapeutic invalidation.
Session 3: Disturbed Feelings vs Disturbed Behaviors – how to identify and address each.
Learn to distinguish between emotional dysregulation and behavioral dysregulation and learn interventions for each of these conditions.
Session 4:Sensitivity, Over-sensitivity, Paranoia and other Untrustworthy Feelings
How to intervene when your child’s feelings make no sense.
Session 5: Supportive Interventions for anger, jealousy, hostility, rage and violence.
Anger is a poorly understood emotion. Acquire insights and skills to help you support your child’s angry feelings appropriately.
Session 6:How to Help Support Your Child through Anxiety and Fear
Parents can accidentally increase their child’s anxiety and fear through the incorrect application of emotional coaching and other interventions. Learn how to properly support your child through insecurity, worry, panic, obsession and other anxious and fearful feelings.
Session 7:Supporting Your Child Through Traumatic Events
The therapist isn’t the only one who will be dealing with your traumatized child; YOU will be the primary responder. Know the techniques that can help and hurt after your child has experienced trauma.
Session 8:Providing Emotional Support for Low Mood and Lack of Motivation
A child’s withdrawal and apathy can trigger feelings of anger, helpless and panic in parents. Learn how to hold yourself steady while providing helpful support for your child’s depressed moods and difficulties in functioning.
